This is my last outfit post of the year. When I first wrote that sentence I forgot 'of the year'. That would have been a dramatic way to send that message, no? I've never been good with goodbyes, but that would have been the worst goodbye in history.
I hope high water pants come into trend next year. Even if they don't, I'll probably still sport my short pants with pride. I would just like to point out that yes, one leg is longer than the other. Don't be jealous of my short pants and uneven legs. We've all got to have something to brag about.
Thanks for sticking with me this year, friends. Here's to 2012, the year of short pants.
So this is B's new studio. We thought that we'd try it out this morning and snap outfit shots in there. With it being cold, I'm beginning to have a small aversion to taking my coat off outside and prancing around while B snaps photos of me. Just a small aversion though; will I ever lose the zest for prancing around and pretending to not be pretending to be a model? Never. Do you see that 'smize' up there? That's from years of practice, my friends.
I wore a very similar outfit to this a few weeks back. But since it wasn't a real outfit post and since today is my first day back to work since the holidays, I decided to have a re-do outfit. My brain only half works for a about a week after Christmas and then we have New Years Eve and it's another week before I can get back into the groove of things. I should have warned you before hand that I'll be checked out for a good two weeks. If I happen to wear two different pairs of shoes one day, leave me be. The holiday hangover is a strong one.
I lose all track of time when it's the holidays. For the last four days I've thought it was Friday. Yesterday a lady in the shop said "isn't it Christmas Eve today?" I couldn't remember so we both stared at each other for a good and awkward 30 seconds. She left before I looked at a calendar, but the good news is that today is Friday and tomorrow is Christmas Eve. And the day after that is Christmas. With this impressive rhetoric, I could write pop songs for ambitious young girls.*
We're hitting the sky to fly home for Christmas tonight. Apparently there will be snow. Snow, family and presents -- these are my few of my favorite things.
*Yes that was a Rebecca Black reference. Merry Christmas to you.

I snagged this coat at Anthropologie over Thanksgiving weekend for an insane price of $60. I promised Bryan that I would wrap it for Christmas but somehow in all of my wrapping, it just didn't get wrapped. I hate when that happens.
Technically this is my Christmas Eve outfit. (I may or may not plan holiday outfits many days in advance .) I decided to give it a trial run today. So far, so good. I might also give some eggnog a trial run as well. Just for good measure.
Yet another cozy outfit from the weekend. What is it about winter that makes me want to wrap up in big cozy sweaters lately? Oh. Yes, the cold weather.... good call.
I'll be out finishing (AKA starting) my christmas shopping today. I'm sure no one else will be out shopping, right? I should be able to find front row parks and just cruise down the aisles with no crowds. Procrastination always prevails.
Being at the store 6 days a week, means I pretty much dress up every day. Saturdays are no exception. The thing is I'm usually running about an hour behind on Saturdays and we never get photos. But today the stars aligned. I woke up early, birds drew open the curatins for me, I picked out what I was going to wear, and we got outfit photos. Not quite a miracle, but pretty impressive for a Saturday.
I'm either brave or a fool for wearing tight pleather pants and flats today. Or maybe just a brave fool. That fits. A girl at the shop and I were chatting yesterday about flats vs heels. Heels of course won, because a) they make me taller which intimidates small children and b) instant long legs. Why would I not want to have both of these things at the same time?
But it's Friday and the thought of putting on heels today made me cringe. Plus, it's Christmas time so I'm trying to lay off intimidating small children until the new year.
In celebration of their new online shop, the nice people at Joie gave me this fur vest to wear. (I'm guessing they are all nice, I haven't talked to every employee so this is just a general assumption of office niceness.) With my jacket and now this vest, I believe that my secret longing for faux fur is now complete. Who knew that I'd like fake fur so much? Rachel Zoe knew, that's who.
I should be going to a fancy party, but I'm just going to work. Story of my life. Will there at least be wine at lunch? You will never know.

I woke up today at 5 am for no apparent reason but I did have this outfit in mind and I remembered to pay a bill on time. Thanks subconscious but 5 am is a nasty time to wake someone up and tell them about an outfit.
I bought this sweater (yes, from myself, I'm that good of a salesman) this weekend and I've already worn it 3 times since. It's hard to go wrong with a neutral sweater. In other words, you won't mind if I wear this again this week will you? I didn't think so.
(Why yes, this is the skirt from the Fossil lookbook. Good catch there, hawk eyes.)
You've seen what I chose to give this holiday season but now you can check out other blogger's gifts, too! Visit americanlivingholiday.com to see everyone's picks for the holiday.
I swapped (which actually felt like stealing) these J.Brand jeans at the Payless swap a few weeks ago. Who just gives up mint condition J.Brand jeans? This girl does. I was like a hawk on these jeans. Don't mess with me at a swap. I will tear you up.
I mixed this outfit + this outfit together and ended up with this outfit. Thank goodness for Pinterest. Can I get an amen?
I tried to get all Alexa Chung on my hair today -- you know, flawless but carefree? Well let me tell you something. Flawless and carefree takes longer than average and uptight. I ended up actually stripping down to my underwear this morning after getting dressed because I was so angry at my hair. Granted, this is not a normal reaction to a bad hair day, but it happened. I considered re-showering and doing my hair like normal because effortless was not working for me. Who knew natural took so much effort? Also, who knew I took to streaking when I got angry?
Last time I wore this skirt was about forever ago. About time I broke it out again, yes?
