Working for the Weekend

My imaginary weekend went like this:  We slept in until noon each day. Our maid came and cleaned our house and did our laundry for free. We ate a late brunch then caught up on our movies. The coffee supply was endless. We did nothing that remotely looked like work. We laughed all weekend long.
My real weekend went like this:I woke up at 8 every morning. (then annoyed B until he woke up)The imaginary maid did not come and our real mess and real laundry did not get finished. We ate when we remembered to. The coffee supply was endless. We did nothing that remotely looked like play. We laughed all weekend long. 
B and I spent most of the weekend working on our business. This is apparently what I wear when working on our business plan because I've worn this outfit in many variatons all weekend long. You don't know about this business? Then you haven't been doing your required reading. Tsk, tsk. There will be a quiz at the end, so read up. 
And by most of our weekend, I did take a solid two hour nap this afternoon complete with drool. It's not a nap unless there is drool.

The mister and I took a little bike ride downtown to a salad bar place that also serves coffee and muffins from 7 am to 11 am -- or "whenever we put the lettuce out." Also, I've joined the cool club and downloaded Hipstamatic. I see lots of iPhone photos of random things in my future.
What else do I forecast? A very good weekend. Cheers to that.

Road Trip + Outfit 26

This weekend we went on a roadtrip to visit in the in-laws in west Texas. This is what we saw.







And this is what I wore:


Although I've worn a different variation of this outfit before, I am much like George Washington in the fact that I've cut down a few cherry trees. Oh and I will not tell a lie. I almost didn't post it for fear of boring you guys, but it's true I wore this. Although I bought this shirt with full intention to wear it to the office, I've been wearing almost exclusively on the weekends. Here is Pete and this version is Repeat.

Hey cupcakes, how was your weekend?


Okay now on to mine. We met our bff's in Austin for brunch + cupcake time. Cupcake time is that special time between lunch and dinner when you aren't hungry, but you're not quite full. The best way to cure this intolerable feeling is to eat cupcakes filled with sugar, butter and cream cheese icing. Seriously, this is the only cure.


Tomorrow is the end of AcademiChic's "Dress Your Best" week and I'm sad to see it go. I might just dress my best everyday. Wouldn't that be something? Slight sarcasm aside, I wanted to showcase my legs today, which are probably a favorite feature of mine. Sadly I can not say that they've carried me through a marathon, or a long bike ride or a nice hike. No I don't force my legs to do anything they don't want to do (see: Cupcakes) Instead my legs have wobbled their way through on many different surfaces in heels, platforms, boots and uncomfortable flats without ever failing me. They've been there through every concert, lifting me up as I tower over the shorties to see the show, ignoring those who yell "Hey ladder legs, down in front!" They have held me up through waitressing shifts and 9-hour days working retail. And they have somehow stayed thin and kept their shape even though I spend more time sitting at my desk than walking on a treadmill. My legs are amazing. I want to be my legs when I grow up.


Thanks for sharing your favorite parts as well! I loved reading what you had to say. And I was able to stop hyperventilating about my vanity issues and eat another cupcake. Here's to emotional eating and self esteem. Cheers.

over the weekend

You guys I got so excited about my outfit yesterday that I totally forgot about this outfit from this weekend's date night. When I opened up my computer, these pictures were just sitting there asking if they were chopped liver. I assured them they were not and here we are. So how long before you guys leave me citing that my personification of inanimate objects got annoying? Well, till then my closet says hello.
You know what's fun? Dressing up for date night even though you have nowhere special to go. Well we went to Chili's and Blockbuster, so I guess we had somewhere to go. Chili's was probably the most popular place in town on Sunday. We definitely felt like socialites, let me tell you. We had to fight through the paparazzi just to get to our booth. My wrist was so tired from signing autographs and handing out head shots. Just kidding. There were like 15 people in the whole place and we got the one-over and a few eye brow raises since we weren't wearing Dallas Cowboy jerseys and cut off shorts. No waves, no pics, no autographs. But we did get carded and asked if the dinner would be together or separate. A question we've been plagued with since the dawn of our relationship. (We pay together, by the way.)
It's still fun though -- dressing up for no reason. In fact, one time my husband and I were at lunch when someone asked what we were so dressed up for. "You guys headed to a funeral?" We said "close, just heading back to work."

Oh and if you were wondering, here are the first 10 outfits from my 30 for 30 project. So far, so good. Here's to the next ten...and the next.

So I must tell you it wasn't really raining yesterday. It was more of just a mist that lasted all day. This mist also did not call for an umbrella but I, like Rihanna, could not resist. (Ella, ella, ella....eh eh eh....)


I know what you are thinking. One blazer, two days in a row?? You must be crazy! I am crazy, so crazy that I didn't even launder it before re-wearing it. I live life on the wild side. I'm not even wearing deodorant either. And by wild side I mean I smell like a jungle. This blazer should probably just be thrown away by the time my outfit project is over. Stinky.


So I almost broke my 30 for 30 rule -- I wanted to wear my boots with this get-up, as I do love shorts with boots. I even went so far to put them on when my husband walked in and asked what I was doing. Then he reminded me that my readers may not appreciate me lying and cheating to their faces. So I took them off and set them aside for later. And by later I mean I'll probably sleep in them tonight.


Bad news -- tomorrow is Monday. Good news -- I'll announce the giveaway winner tomorrow!
Bad news -- only 12 more hours till I have to be at work. Good news -- only 5 more days till the weekend. Let the countdown begin.
